Toil pays off on Schouten Island
Its all too easy to become disheartened when you first face a major weeding project. Large areas of weeds require regular followup in a timely manner but the Friends of Freycinet have some great examples showing that this regular committed work can pay big dividends.
Below are the before and after shots from two years of hard work on a patch of vinca major (Blue Periwinkle) that has been the focus for this group. A combination of spraying, solarisation and hand weeding has created a win for the environment and what great work by the dedicated volunteers!
