Cradle Mountain Spring-bee-FULL
Annual Spring working bee assisting rangers with priority jobs.
Rather like a back-yard blitz ( but on a National parks scale). Its incredible the number of jobs that can be completed with a hard-working team over 5 days.
This year’s Spring-bee will be held over one 5-day week, 25th-29th November, with a limit of 12 volunteers. The focus for the week will be track-pruning within the day walk area, along with other priority jobs to make the week varied and interesting. (eg. weed control and re-vegetation, heritage project, Park maintenance.) A more concise plan will be available closer to the event.
Volunteers will need to have a good level of fitness and bush-walking experience, as we could be working on track for most of the day, walking 10 +/-km on varied and sometimes steep terrain. They will need to be self sufficient with food, clothing, full set of rain-gear and bushwalking gear in a daypack. All training, tools and PPE gear will be provided, along with basic accommodation.
Accommodation is limited this year. Rooms will be twin share (bunks) so please advise if you are happy to share or advise if you are coming with a friend or partner who you would like to share with. Single sleeping quarters (for those who prefer) will be available at PWS Trackies camp which has shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Another option may be that people park their campervan at Trackies. Please include your accommodation requirement in the Notes box when registering.
Interested? Available for 5 days? Sign up now by registering on the Wildcare calendar. Registration closes 25 October 2024.
Preference will be given to volunteers who are available for the 5 days.
If you are an enthusiastic first-time volunteer at Cradle Mountain, we’d like you to tell us a little about your bush-walking and volunteering experience, any special skills and interests you have and that you have registered with NRE Tasmania. Please do so in the Notes box.
A Volunteering at Cradle Mountain information pack will be provided to volunteers prior to the event.
