Photographer in residence during Friends of Melaleuca‘s working bee in March 2020 was Andy Johnson, of Hillvale Photos in Brunswick, Melbourne.
These are some of the images he took during the working bee. Although Andy loves old style film cameras, these ones were taken with a digital SLR camera. The photos of Andy were taken by his partner, Pip Jones.

Andy is co-founder of Hillvale Photo, an independent photo lab specialising in the development and scanning of photographic film. When some wonderful old black and white negatives from Toby Clark arrived for FoM, we took Andy up on his offer to help out with scanning photos of Melaleuca’s historic heritage. Toby’s photos show volunteers in action building the second bushwalkers hut at Melaleuca in 1975. FoM plans to use these images in interpretive displays for the bushwalkers huts (project proposal now with PWS).
