Weeding on Tamar Island
Friends of Tamar Island Wetlands Reserve – Ann, Robyn, Jing, Suzanne and Rod with the help of PWS staff Jason, Brad, Elliot and Emma, tackled weeds on Tamar Island at our working bee on 3rd March.
The walk to our work site on a glorious Launceston morning at full tide took us past countless ducks, cruising pelicans, breakfasting swans, an honour guard of seagulls lining the bridge, and courting Copper Head snakes!
Once on the north facing slope of the island we dealt with box thorn, firethorn, sloe berry, hawthorn and blackberries and look forward to planting natives there.
Join our branch to be kept up to date with news and happenings – all are welcome!
