Rare as an OBP – monitoring volunteers wanted
Friends of the Orange-bellied Parrot (Wildcare Inc.) is calling for expressions of interest from pairs of volunteers to monitor the wild population of this critically endangered parrot over the coming breeding season. Each pair of volunteers will be transported to and from Melaleuca and provided with field accommodation to observe Orange-bellied Parrots between September 26, 2017 and April 24, 2018. Most pairs of volunteers will spend two weeks at Melaleuca with the possibly of some undertaking up to four week stints. Preference will be given to pairs of volunteers, however, it may be possible to match up interested individuals.

To assist with the selection of volunteers please provide brief answers to the following questions.

Provide an outline of:
- your experience living in remote locations and your ability to plan and prepare for a 2 week or 4 week stint in a remote location.
- your experience watching or monitoring OBPs, other bird species or other wildlife.
- why you would like to be an OBP volunteer observer at Melaleuca.
Do you have current first aid qualifications? If not, are you prepared to gain them?
Before applying to be an OBP volunteer observer, please read the Statement of Duties (available on the Friends of the OBP branch page).
