From a bushwalk to a river stroll – staying connected with ‘Get Outside’
After a little break to catch our breaths and reassess our situation, the Get Outside program has been reignited. Four trips for the year have been planned and new partnerships have been formed. The first trip was a great success!
On a hot and windy Saturday, 17 people from the Tasmanian Arab community, and their supporters, went on what was meant to be a lovely walk at Chauncy Vale Nature Reserve, but at short notice a total fire ban was declared!
Luckily, we had thought about these potential risks in our trip planning and the trip was hastily rescheduled for a stroll along the river at Richmond. Talking, connecting and being in nature is important for this community and although in a different location – this is exactly what was delivered.
Being reminded that getting outside is good for your mental health, good for your connections with other humans, and a reminder that Tasmania is a safe and welcoming home for all of us are good reasons to Get Outside!
