Take a Dose of Con’s Environment Potion
Con Rhee is a member of the Wildcare Cradle Mountain Volunteers. He is also a photographer who has “discovered how to capture art in nature”. As much as his panels look like “works of art” his images are not manipulated and are true representations of reality.

Reality, in this case being the Tasmanian environment, with a focus on lakes, rivers and puddles. He particularly loves the Dove River, Cradle Mountain National Park, where he has returned many times to capture the right light and effect as the water swirls through the Canyon making reflections, shapes and patterns.
Con’s most recent exhibition, “The Environment Potion” is one which was specifically designed to fit a space which looks out to sea at the UTAS Burnie Maker’s Centre Gallery. His large scale photograph of the Dove River is printed on a series of high mounted silk panels which depict the river flowing out from the gallery into Bass Strait. Central to the gallery is a silk “forest” with trees that waft as you pass and all around the walls are more images of water. He definitely loves water.
Con’s exhibition is showing until 13th November at UTAS Maker’s Space Gallery, 2-4 Bass Highway, Burnie.
