Freycinet Working bees
Calling all “vollies” to Freycinet for our 2018 working bees.
1. March Muster: March 16 – 21st.
We start the off at the 4 Cosgrove St, Coles Bay for our AGM at 6pm on March 16th and then off Iluka Tavern for a counter meal. The working bee tasks will start on Saturday 17th till Wednesday, 21st March
Possible Tasks: decking oil at Cape Tourville, Whalers lookout weeding at Bicheno, Honeymoon Bay spruce up, “Good Intent” landscaping
2. May Mayhem: 21st – 25th May
Possible Tasks: access tracks to Richardsons Beach, Wineglass carpark amenities, Coles Bay foreshore and Sabina Island in Moulting Lagoon weeding, amenities repainting
3. Ablaze in August: 6th – 10th August,
Possible Tasks: Fuel reduction, relocation & drainage works, sea spurge beach check and clearing.
4. Opportunities in October: 8th- 12th October
Possible Tasks: Gorse removal at Moulting Lagoon, Mulching Wineglass tracks, Friendly Beaches benches, Hazards Beach Track trimming.
5. Schouten Shenanigans: 10th – 18th December
Possible Tasks: Schouten Island weeding and historic hut maintenance.
Accommodation will be provided in Coles Bay and PWS hostels as their availability permits.
Please put these dates into your diaries. If you can help the Park even for a few days in any of these dates you will be welcomed. The working bees are always good fun, not too strenuous and you always meet a lot of kindred spirits.
We are reassured by all Parks staff of the valuable work we do that would not be done otherwise. Parks are often struggling for resources and time so our work is invaluable for them and our much loved Freycinet National Park.
