Get Outside – Mapping our Future
In order to plan our future, it makes sense to take stock of what has worked well so far, and where we could deliver more. Get Outside are coming to the end of our current funding through the Tasmanian Community Fund, which is ideal timing to plan for the next phase.
An external consultant, Morven Andrews, has been engaged to look at the program with fresh eyes, conducting interviews with our partners, our leaders, and participants.
We are aiming to document the achievements of the program, but also the impact it has had on peoples’ lives. Get Outside received an internal Wildcare grant to assist with this process, along with funding from Department of Health, who are particularly interested in the impact the program has on mental and physical health of refugees and migrants. From the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, data on conservation messaging and the potential to create new conservation ambassadors in diverse communities is an important study focus. We will also be discussing the future of the program with service providers, hoping to understand how we can have the most impact in welcoming new arrivals to Tasmania, and fostering a sense of connection and belonging.
If you have participated in one of our walks, even if it was a few years ago, it would be great to get your perspective. Follow this link to our survey

Complete the survey by Friday 31 August. Anything you write will be confidential. You can also ask for an interview by phone or in person. If you do the survey or are interviewed, you can go into the draw for a $100 Coles/Myer voucher or one of two $50 vouchers.
Once we have the final report, we will make this publicly available, and use it as a foundation for planning where to next.
