VOLUNTEER WEEK 2015
“Give Happy, Live Happy” was the theme for this year’s National Volunteer Week, a celebration of volunteerism in Australia. First established in 1989, it is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and provides an opportunity to thank the 6-million Australians who volunteer each year! It is estimated that the overall value of volunteering in Tasmania during the last 12 months was $4.9 billion, with four out of five Tasmanians – that’s a whopping 411000 people in Tasmania – who did something to help someone else in the last year. Isn’t that amazing!
Thanks to the Volunteer Training Consortium & NRM South who hosted a barbecue lunch to celebrate the contribution of volunteers in our community. It was great to hear the other volunteers speak so passionately about their projects.
